The Governing Board (i.e. the board) at Salem UMC is the administrative/governing body of the church. In the polity (i.e. structure/governance) of the United Methodist Church, the Governing Board is amenable to the Charge Conference and encompasses all the duties of the Administrative Board/Church Council, Finance Committee, Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee, and the Board of Trustees. This 9 member board oversees the mission of the church while protecting the people and property associated with Salem UMC and provides an accountable structure to the pastor who stewards the vision of the church and provides leadership to staff and ministry teams that work to accomplish that vision. All meetings of the Governing Board are open to the public, but only those holding office on the board have voice and vote. Check the church calendar for public notice of meetings.
