Salem United Methodist Church in Conway, AR will celebrate Holy Week 2017 with four great services that will take one through the highs and lows of this historical and grace-filled week in the life of our savior Jesus Christ. We invite everyone to join us for Holy Week observations, below you will find our schedule and important information regarding Holy Week 2017.
Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017, 10 AM in the Sanctuary – Join us as we celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem with a palm branch processional and the next installment of our series Giving it Up about giving up popularity. Palm Sunday will set the scene for the greatest week in the church calendar as we move closer to Easter.
REVIVE Wednesday, April 12, 2017, 5:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall – Join us as we host our weekly fellowship meal, group studies, and choir practice. The REVIVE meal starts at 5:30 and is open to all for a suggested donation of $5.00. Following the meal at 6 PM, youth and children will gather for their weekly discipleship groups and choir practice will meet at 6:30 PM.
Holy Thursday Last Supper Experience Thursday, April 13, 2017, 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall – Celebrate the Jewish roots of Christianity and the link of the Passover to the Christian sacrament of Holy Communion. We will participate in a modified Seder meal and celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion as we remember the new mandate that was given to the followers of Christ in the upper room. This worship experience includes a meal in addition to the Seder meal. Please prepare for an experience that will last 1 1/2 – 2 1/2 hours. Childcare will be provided and reservations must be made. A donation for this experience is suggested, but not required. Make your reservation today!
The Way of Sorrows, Friday, April 14, 2017, 7 PM in the Sanctuary – Join us on Good Friday as we remember the death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with The Way of Sorrows. This worship experience will take one through the stations of the cross as we remember the sacrifice that was made on our behalf through the suffering of Christ in his passion. Easter Sunday is only possible because of the death of Christ on Friday, this makes Good Friday worship one the most important services of the year. Please make plans now to join us as we remember the passion of Christ.
The Feast of the Resurrection, Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, 10 AM in the Sanctuary – Join us on Easter Sunday as we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead for the salvation of all the world. This is the pinnacle of the Christian year and we will celebrate with great joy as we proclaim Christ has risen from the dead.
